The first all-British electric hypercar, the Lotus Evija, will go into production this Summer with the production run rumored to have already sold out.
130 Evija’s will be hand-built at the Lotus Headquarters in Hethel, Norfolk, called Factory 3. Dynamic testing is also taking place in Hethel, the video below show’s the car being driven at speed, showcasing it’s high performance abilities and electric features.
“Physical prototype testing at speed is a landmark moment for the Evija and hugely exciting for everyone involved. Our aim is to make sure it’s a true Lotus in every sense, with exceptional performance that’s going to set new standards in the hypercar sector.”
So how fast is the Lotus Evija?
The output promised for the Lotus Evija is around 1973 bhp, making it the most powerful car in production. It’s 0-62mph time is targeted at less than 3 seconds, a 0-186mph time target of less than 9 seconds and a top speed of over 200mph. Lotus said its target is to be the world’s most powerful production car, with 2,000ps, or 1972bhp. It’s also Lotus’s first road-legal 4×4.
And how much will it cost?
A production slot can be reserved for a hefty £250,000 deposit, however this is fully refundable for the people that change their mind. Lotus has priced the Evija at £1.5-2 million + tax and duties, but all stats and figures are targets and could change at a later date.
The Lotus is 4.59 meters long, 2.0 meters wide and 1.12 metres high. It’s around the same size as a Lamborghini Aventador, similar weight to the BMW 5 Series but generates more power than 3 Tesla Model X cars combined.
